A revisional study of the genus Phaedimus Waterhouse, 1841
from the Philippines
(Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Cetoniinae)

Abstract - Hemiphaedimus Mikšić, 1972, which was regarded as a subgenus of Phaedimus Waterhouse, 1841, is considered at genus rank. A new species of Phaedimus is described from Luzon, the Philippines: P. asinensis sp. nov. P. zebuanus ssp. orientalis Nagai, 1998 is raised to species rank. The taxon howdeni Arnaud, 1987 is regarded as a subspecies of P. rafaelii Mikšić, 1977. Besides, a key to the species of the genera Phaedimus and Hemiphaedimus is made based on exoskeletal and aedeagal characteristics.
