Abstract - Biodiversity of selected groups of insects in the Roman countryside north-east of Rome: quantitative analysis - The work presents an analysis of the 256 species (out of 801 recorded during a research cycle lasted about 20 years in the area of the Roman countryside north-east of Rome known as the “mentanese-cornicolano archipelago”) belonging to four groups of insects whose knowledge is considered relatively good: Odonata, Orthopteroidea, Coleoptera Carabidae, Lepidoptera Rhopalocera. A related annotated checklist of the species is reported for each group. Two macro-areas are considered: Nomentum Natural Reserve and Macchia di Gattaceca - Macchia del Barco Natural Reserve (GBN); Inviolata Regional Natural Park and the neighboring unprotected area near Marco Simone (INV). A chorological analysis applied to all species has been carried out. The species of Orthoptera, Coleoptera Carabidae and Lepidoptera Rhopalocera have been characterized from ecological viewpoint in order to highlight the features of each macroarea (GBN, INV). Statistical indexes have been applied to evaluate the similarity of the two macroareas using species presence-absence data. Solutions to the numerous conservation problems that emerged during these researches, based on the results of both statistical and ecological analysis, have been finally discussed.
