Abstract - On the identity of Antireicheia basilewskyi Bulirsch, Janák & Moravec,2005, with establishment of the new genus Malagasyreicheia (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae, Clivinini) - Examining the whole type series of Antireicheia basilewskyi Bulirsch, Janák & Moravec, 2005 from Andringitra Mts. (Madagascar), we have found that this taxon has some characteristics which clearly separate it from other species of the genus Antireicheia Basilewsky, 1951, especially, the elytral lateral sulcus is reaching at base the third stria instead of the fifth, and the antennae, the pronotum and the elytra are more elongated. Moreover, the female styli have a particularly large basal orifice with characteristic flared shape, very different from that of all Antireicheia species, which have a much smaller opening, furthermore, the aedeagus has a spatuliform, particularly long, broad and curved apex. The taxon is therefore considered unrelated to the genus Antireicheia, and it is the type species of the new genus Malagasyreicheia Magrini, Bulirsch & Fancello, here established. The new genus clearly differs also from the other Madagascan genus - Madagascareicheia Magrini & Bulirsch 2009 - with a single, almost sympatric species M. elongata (Jeannel, 1958), which shares the elytral lateral sulcus reaching at base the third stria, nevertheless it shows some very peculiar characteristics, such as the very different female styli, the much shorter and slightly arched aedeagus, the 9th urite with clavate apex, the general structure of the much smaller body. Finally, Malagasyreicheia basilewskyi represents the only known taxon of the eyeless Reicheiina with no dorsal setiferous punctures.
