Abstract - Notes on the genus Golofa Hope (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Dynastinae, Dynastini) with description of a new species from Peru - A new species of Golofa Hope from central Peru - Golofa bubeniki sp. nov. - is described and illustrated on the basis of one male. The peculiarity of this new species is to exhibit a bifurcate small cephalic horn, the only to show this characteristic among the 35 known Golofa species. Despite the morphological features of most major specimens of the genus Golofa allow a precise diagnosis, the minor ones and their intermediate phenotypes raise many diagnostic doubts, especially due to the complete unavailability of good quality photographic enlargements as well as of well-made drawings of the parameres in the descriptions. Due to the great asymmetry of the parameres, Golofa bubeniki sp. nov. is compared with Golofa pelagon Burmeister.
