Abstract - A new species of Dorcus Macleay, 1819 from the Island of Negros (Philippines, Central Visayas) is described based on a single male specimen. Dorcus yuukae n. sp. is compared to males of the closely related Dorcus parvulus (Hope in WESTWOOD, 1845), also from the Philippines, from which it mainly differs for the matt colour (instead of being shiny), the different shape of the mandibles and clypeus, the less strong punctation of mentum, the absence of any frontal tubercle, the presence of a prosternal process. The new species has also been compared to male specimens of Dorcus multicavus Mizunuma, 1994 from Indonesia (Sulawesi): the new taxon can be distinguished by its smaller size, and the different mandibular, clypeus and pronotum shapes.
