On the distributions of
Cotaster cuneipennis (Aubé, 1850) and
C. speziai Diotti et al., 2015
(Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Cossoninae)

by

LUCIANO DIOTTI, ROBERTO CALDARA & JIŘÍ KRÁTKÝ

Abstract - New distributional data of C. cuneipennis (Aubé, 1850) and C. speziai Diotti, Pesarini & Caldara, 2015 are here presented and mapped. The known ranges of both species are significantly modified. Actually, C. speziai, reported only from north-eastern Italy, Austria and southern Germany on the basis of the type specimens, is widely distributed in central Europe to south-eastern Poland, and it is there the unique known species of the genus. On the contrary, the distribution of C. cuneipennis is more limited than previously recorded, and mainly restricted to the Alps and the Balkans. The two species are sympatric only in a narrow area of north-eastern Italy, southern Germany, southern Austria and Slovenia; however, in no locality the two species seem to cohabit.

presenti in Sardegna, con descrizione di una nuova specie
(Coleoptera, Zopheridae)

di

LUCA FANCELLO & PAOLO MAGRINI

Abstract - The Langelandia Aubé, 1842 of the subgenus Fleischerella Reitter, 1911 from Sardinia, with description of a new species (Coleoptera, Zopheridae) - An updated list of the Langelandia species of the subgenus Fleischerella from Sardinia and a key to the known Sardinian taxa are given. Some aspects of the biogeography of the endogean Sardinian Zopheridae are also discussed. Finally, the Authors describe Langelandia (Fleischerella) pseudoexigua n. sp. from Sardinia (type locality: Galtellì, Nuoro province). The new species is easily distinguished from the others belonging to the same subgenus for the concomitant presence of the following characteristics: pronotum (in dorsal view) with 4 distinct fossae (2 on each side) and with distinct lateral costae; elytra elongate, parallel-sided, with 1 costa very distinctly elevated between striae 2 and 3, protruding forwards as basal tubercle; presence of 2 striae between the dorsal costa and the false lateral margin of elytra (in dorsal view).

Una nuova specie del genere Sardulus
della Sardegna centro-orientale (Barbagia di Seulo)

di

PAOLO MAGRINI & CARLO ONNIS

Abstract - A new species of the genus Sardulus from central-eastern Sardinia (Barbagia of Seulo) (Coleoptera, Histeridae) - Sardulus gelidus new species - the fifth described in the endemic Sardinian genus Sardulus Patrizi, 1955 - is described from Mount Arcuerì (Seui) and Sadali (Barbagia of Seulo). This hypogean species is well differentiated from the geographically close Sardulus incrassatus Magrini & Fancello, 2005 (for the different shape of the aedeagus, especially, quite shorter and large), and more similar to the southernmost species - Sardulus onnisi Magrini, Casale & Marcia, 2012 - from which is however easily distinguishable by the shorter and dilated aedeagus, and the different punctation of integuments.

Abstract - A new Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924 from the Tacco of Ulassai, Ogliastra (Sardinia) (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - A new Sardinian species - Typhloreicheia francescoi n. sp. - is described from a cave in the Tacco of Ulassai, Ogliastra. For the shape of the aedeagus apex, bent downwards at 90°, it belongs to the “pandora group”, as defined in MAGRINI & ONNIS (2014). Though, it is easily distinguishable from the other species for the peculiar structure of the copulatory lamella, falciform lamina shaped, with pointed apex, and the structure of female stylomeres as well, with very long ensiform spines.

Una nuova Typhloreicheia della Sardegna centrale,
campionata in ambiente ipogeo nel Tacco del Sarcidano
(Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae)

di

PAOLO  MAGRINI, CARLO ONNIS & ACHILLE CASALE

Abstract - A  new Typhloreicheia species from central Sardinia, sampled in hypogean environment in “Tacco del Sarcidano” (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - The authors describe Typhloreicheia puddui n. sp., sampled in two caves located in the “Tacco del Sarcidano” area (central Sardinia): Is Breccas, Su Disterru de Lorita cave (800 m a.s.l.), and Funtana de Tetti, Sa Sperradura de Tetti cave (650 m a.s.l.), both in the Gadoni territory. The new species, both for external characters and the structure of male genitalia, is close to Typhloreicheia carlonnisi Magrini, Marcia & Casale, 2011, from which it is markedly distinct by the following characteristics: more elongate body, shorter antennae, less developed denticulation at elytral sides, aedeagus in lateral aspect wider at apex, copulatory piece of the endophallus wider and more sclerified, median lobe of the aedeagus in ventral aspect very differently shaped, not straight but turned to the left, left paramere wider, provided with three setae (two in T. carlonnisi).

Sull'identità di Reicheia balearica Español, 1974,
con istituzione del nuovo genere Gymnetoreicheia

PAOLO MAGRINI, LUCA FANCELLO & ACHILLE CASALE

Abstract - On the identity of Reicheia balearica Español, 1974, with establishment of the new genus Gymnetoreicheia (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae, Clivinini) - Reicheia balearica Español, 1974 from Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Spain), known so far only from hypogean habitat, and the only species of Reicheiina known from the Balearic Islands, is re-examined based on four specimens from the type locality. Owing to the absence of the basal border of pronotum and other important morphological characteristics of the exoskeleton and genitalia as well, the species is recognized as foreign to the genus Reicheia Saulcy, 1862 and attributed to the new, monospecific, genus Gymnetoreicheia Magrini, Fancello & Casale, with the new combination Gymnetoreicheia balearica (Español, 1974). The new genus is compared with the other Mediterranean genera characterized by vanished basal border of pronotum.

Sulla posizione sistematica di
Typhloreicheia bavierai Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010
con istituzione di un nuovo genere siciliano
(Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae, Clivinini)

di

PAOLO  MAGRINI & LUCA FANCELLO

Abstract - On the systematic position of Typhloreicheia bavierai Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010 with establishment of a new Sicilian genus (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae, Clivinini) - Based on new morphological studies, Typhloreicheia bavierai Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010, Sicilian endemism restricted to the cave Grotta del Sughero (Scopello, Trapani), is considered foreign to the genus Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924, and assigned to the new, monospecific genus Sikelioreicheia Magrini & Fancello gen. nov. [Sikelioreicheia bavierai (Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010) comb. nov.]. For the presence on the pronotum of a median longitudinal sulcus vanished backwards, and of a distinct prebasal border slightly curved at middle and separate from the median longitudinal sulcus, the new genus is considered closer to Reicheia Saulcy, 1862 rather than Typhloreicheia. Other useful characteristic to isolate Sikelioreicheia from Reicheia and Typhloreicheia is the marginal elytral hollow, in the first very flattened, long, and especially starting at the base of the 4th stria, rather than 5th; the complete anophthalmia and the extreme flattening of the body (important by a diagnostic, but not phyletic point of view) further characterize the new genus.

RICCARDO MONGUZZI

Abstract - Description of Boldoriella (Insubrites) trezzii n. sp. from the Presolana massif (Bergamo Pre-Alps) (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - Boldoriella trezzii n. sp., belonging to the subgenus Insubrites Monguzzi, 1982, and particularly related to B. serianensis (Breit, 1913), is described from a small artificial cave near Giogo della Presolana (Bergamo Pre-Alps). It is very surprising that at the same restricted geographical area, where the type locality of the new taxon is located - the calcareous-dolomitic Presolana massif - three other distinct species of the same subgenus Insubrites [Boldoriella serianensis (Breit, 1913), B. binaghii Bucciarellii, 1978 and B. pesarinii Sciaky, 1982] are already known. Therefore, for comparison purposes, the male genitalia of these three taxa are also illustrated.
