Abstract - Synopsis of the genus Lycomedes Breme (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Dynastinae, Agaocephalini) with redescription of Lycomedes ohausi Arrow male, and descriptions of Lycomedes ohausi Arrow female and a new species from Ecuador - A new species of Lycomedes Breme, from North-Central Ecuador - Lycomedes bubeniki sp. nov. - is described and illustrated on the basis of 26 males and 4 females. The new species is compared to Lycomedes ohausi Arrow, from Peru, new country record for the species, from which it can be easily distinguished. The male of Lycomedes ohausi Arrow is redescribed, and its female described for the first time. A synopsis of the genus Lycomedes Breme is illustrated by means of the outlines of the cephalic and thoracic horns, parameres, and phallobases drawn from specimens and photo enlargements of  each of the 10 species of the genus. Most of these new drawings emphasize major differences compared to those so far published.
