Abstract - The endomychid genus Panaleies Tomaszewska, 2000 belonging to the subfamily Leiestinae from Japan is herein reviewed. A new species, Panaleies meridionalis sp. nov. is described from the Nansei Islands, Southwest Japan. The single congenerous already known species - Panaleies decoratus (Gorham, 1873) - is redescribed. Habitus, body parts and genitalia are illustrated. A key to species of the Japanese Panaleies is provided.
