Abstract - A new species of the genus Fornasinius Bertoloni, 1853 (Coleoptera, Cetoniidae, Goliathini) from east Africa from the old collection of Kersten Klingbeil - Fornasinius prandii n. sp. - is here described and illustrated. Although it comes from a historical collection, the new species is striking for its absolute exceptionality and difference from all the other species of the same genus known to date. The current structure of the genus is composed by eight species and two subspecies (DE PALMA, 2018) and the new taxon is herein presented with the peculiar features in cephalic armature, body coloration and aedeagus which allow a clear separation from its closest relatives, namely F. russus Kolbe, 1884 and F. aureosparsus Van der Pool, 1890.
