Abstract - Macronthophagus, described as subgenus of Onthophagus, is reconsidered and upgraded to full genus. The male of the species curvicarinatus, which had been assigned to Macronthophagus, is described and curvicarinatus is assigned to Onthophagus (incertae sedis).
