Abstract - Photographic atlas of the aedeagi and systematic updating of the species of Sardinia belonging to the genus Scotonomus Fauvel, 1873, with description of a new taxon and synonymic notes (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae) - In this note we provide photographic images of the male genitalia of all the taxa known for Sardinia belonging to the genus Scotonomus Fauvel, 1873, the only ones we think able to give a certain diagnosis of the species. This work follows the revision of the Sardinian species by BORDONI, FANCELLO & LEO (2012), after which further 4 taxa were described (LEO, DEGIOVANNI & FANCELLO, 2013; BORDONI & FANCELLO, 2014; MAGRINI & BORDONI, 2019). Preceding works, excluding the last, used b/w drawings as images; present color photos are more exhaustive regarding the diagnosis of species, and allow a more precise revision of the genus, with its division into groups of species. Moreover, the following new synonymies are proposed: Scotonomus onnisi Magrini & Bordoni, 2019 = Scotonomus baroniae Bordoni, Fancello & Leo, 2012; Scotonomus fauveli Bordoni, Fancello & Leo, 2012  =  Scotonomus binaghii Coiffait, 1982. Scotonomus lulensis Bordoni, Fancello & Leo, 2012 is considered subspecies of Scotonomus magrinii Bordoni, 2006, stat. nov. A new species - Scotonomus fancelloi n. sp. - is described from Sant’Anna di Lodè (Lodè, Baronie), Sardinia. A new key to species, updated with respect to the one published in BORDONI et al. (2012), and based on the sole aedeagal morphology, is also given.

Abstract - Observations on the subspecific systematics of Nebria (Oreonebria) diaphana K. Daniel & J. Daniel, 1890 and description of N. (O.) mondini n. sp. from the Oriental Alps (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Nebriini) - After the examination of abundant material of Nebria (Oreonebria) diaphana K. Daniel & J. Daniel, 1890, the subspecific systematics of the species is reviewed, defining the ranges of all the known subspecies, and synonymizing the subsp. venetiana Pomini, 1938 with the subsp. bohiniensis Müller, 1926. The variability and the taxonomic value of some diagnostic characters are also discussed, and Nebria (Oreonebria) mondini, new species from Mount Cavallo (Pordenone-Belluno), is described. The new species is related to the syntopic N. (O.) diaphana, but it shows constantly larger size and different aedeagus and pronotal shape.

di

PAOLO MAGRINI & ALESSANDRO PALADINI

Abstract - A new Torneuma Wollaston, 1860 from western Sicily (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Cryptorhynchinae) - It is herein described and illustrated a new Sicilian taxon of endogean weevil - Torneuma benellii n. sp. -, collected at Sughereta di Angimbé, 350 m a.s.l., Madonna del Giubino, Calatafimi-Segesta (Trapani), where it is syntopic with Torneuma deplanatum deplanatum Hampe, 1864. The new species, medium-sized, for the shape of both pronotum and the armature of the aedeagal internal sac, belongs to the siculum group (sensu STÜBEN, 2018). It is easily distinguishable from the other taxa of the group mainly for the peculiar shape of both the aedeagus - thick, robust, with squarish apex -, and the basal armature of the aedeagal internal sac, with two broad and symmetric lateral sclerites, anteriorly separated and posteriorly appressed.

PAOLO MAGRINI & ANDREA PETRIOLI

Abstract - A new Otiorhynchus Germar, 1822 Subgen. Italorrhynchus Magrini, 2019 from Umbria (Coleoptera, Curculionidae, Entiminae) - A new species of Otiorhynchus Germar, 1822 (Subgen. Italorrhynchus Magrini, 2019), the 40th known for this subgenus from Italy, is described from Mount la Pelosa (Polino, Terni, Umbria). You can compare morphologically the new species just with the four geographically closest relatives: O. (I.) fioronii Magrini, Meoli, Cirocchi & Abbazzi, 2003 from the caves near the Marmore Falls (Terni, Umbria); O. (I.) virginiae Magrini, Abbazzi & Cirocchi, 2001 from Cave Eolia (Terni, Umbria); O. (I.) sabinus Magrini, Meoli & Abbazzi, 2005 from Moggio (Contigliano, Rieti, Lazio), and O. (I.) petriolii Magrini & Degiovanni, 2016 from Mount Terminillo (Rieti, Lazio). It is easily distinguishable from the first by the toothless femora, the larger elytral areolae (not punctiform), the interspace between them as wide as their diameter, instead of being twice or more wider, more prominent pterygia, the longer cornus of spermatheca, differently shaped spiculum ventrale. From the second for the longer head and rostrum, the smaller eyes (3-4 ommatidia, instead of 9-10), the larger and, above all, deeper pronotal areolae, the deeper and reciprocally more distant elytral areolae. From the third for its small vestigial eyes (total absence of eye scars in O. sabinus), the much longer and thinner at base legs, metafemora and metatibiae especially, the longer pronotum and elytra, with differently shaped areolae, spermatheca with longer cornus. From the fourth for the longer legs and antennae, especially the scapus and metafemora (thinner at base), the rostrum dorsum convex instead of concave, the elytral areolae smaller, the interspace between them equal to their diameter (less than their diameter in O. petriolii). A greater difference compared to the other species more geographically distant.

Osservazioni sui taxa del gruppo di
Pimelia (Pimelia) angulata Fabricius, 1775,
con descrizione di una nuova specie del Marocco sud-orientale
(Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae, Pimeliini)

di

PIERO LEO

Abstract - Observations on the taxa of the group of Pimelia (Pimelia) angulata Fabricius, 1775, with description of a new species from south-eastern Morocco (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae, Pimeliini) - The systematics, taxonomy and geonemy of the species group of Pimelia (Pimelia) angulata Fabricius, 1775, widely distributed in the whole North Africa and in the Near East, are discussed. An updated list of the group's taxa is compiled, and the following systematic changes are proposed: the taxon confalonierii Gridelli, 1930 is considered not a subspecies of Pimelia consobrina Lucas, 1858, but a subspecies of P. confusa Sénac, 1884; Pimelia expiata Peyerimhoff, 1923 and P. antiaegypta Koch, 1937, both formerly ranked as subspecies of P. angulata, are raised to valid species. The following new synonymies are also proposed: Pimelia angulata syriaca Sénac, 1884 = Pimelia angulata angulata Fabricius, 1775; Pimelia angulata sinaitica Schatzmayr & Koch, 1934 = Pimelia angulata angulata Fabricius, 1775; Pimelia angulata tschadensis Koch, 1940 = Pimelia angulata nilotica Sénac, 1884; Pimelia angulata berlandi Ardoin, 1963 = Pimelia angulata angulosa A. G. Olivier, 1795. Finally, Pimelia (Pimelia) tamazight n. sp. is described from south-eastern Morocco (loc. typ.: Mhamid, Province of Zagora, Draa-Tafilalet Region); the new species is easily distinguishable for the primary series of elytra marked by robust spiniform and very sharp tubercles and, at the same time, for the elytral intervals with an almost regular row of secondary tubercles, exceptionally developed especially in the front part of elytra, often of similar size as those of the primary series.
