from Argentina and adjacent countries

Abstract - The species of the genus Archophileurus Kolbe, 1910 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Dynastinae: Phileurini) from Argentina and adjacent countries are reviewed. Ten species are present in Argentina: Archophileurus aper Endrödi, 1977, dubious record; A. chaconus (Kolbe, 1910); A. fimbriatus (Burmeister, 1847); A. fodiens (Kolbe, 1910); A. foveicollis (Burmeister, 1847), new country record; A. ovis (Burmeister 1847), new country record; A. spinosus Dechambre, 2006, new country record; A. trituberculatus Endrödi, 1977, new country record; A. vervex (Burmeister, 1847); A. wagneri (Ohaus, 1911). New provincial records in Argentina are also given: A. chaconus (Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Misiones, Corrientes, Buenos Aires, San Juan, Mendoza, Río Negro, Chubut); A. fimbriatus (Chaco); A. fodiens (Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires, La Pampa); A. foveicollis (Misiones); A. ovis (Misiones, Corrientes); A. spinosus (Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, La Rioja, Córdoba, Entre Ríos); A. trituberculatus (Misiones); A. vervex (Misiones, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires, Chubut), and A. wagneri (Córdoba). A new record for Bolivia (A. wagneri) is also given. A brief diagnosis of each species, a key to males, misidentifications, and distribution maps are provided.
